Brettler/Mintz Foundation

brettler/mintz foundation

The Mintz Family has always believed in giving back to the community and sharing our good fortune with others.

The Brettler/Mintz Foundation began when the Mintz Family merged its philanthropic activities with two private foundations—the Rae Bobbe Foundation and the Dr. Adolph and Clara Brettler Foundation—which had similar goals and interests. The Mintz Family manages the Foundation, the mission of which revolves around four pillars:

  • health
  • education
  • children
  • Jewish community

The Foundation differentiates itself from others, in that it not only donates financially to charities, but each Foundation board member volunteers with several not-for-profit organizations.

Elysium’s Co-Chairman, Harley Mintz, is, and has been, active and chaired or sat on the Board of Directors of Baycrest Foundation, Reena Foundation, Canadian Friends of Hebrew University, Holy Blossom Temple, and UJA Federation. Additionally, Harley was the co-chairman of the UJA Federation’s Annual Campaign in 2019.

On November 12, 2023, Harley was the Toronto honouree of the Jewish National Fund’s Negev dinner.

card for change

Card for Change is a registered charity working towards ending homelessness in Canada. The idea formed to help people living in poverty, in an increasingly cashless society.

Instead of cash, Card for Change converts the coins to gift cards for a variety of businesses. All funds donated are used to purchase gift cards. Donations provide and instill a new sense of self-determination, in recipients.

Gift cards act as cash, but with one added benefit: they assure donors that their money is being used as they intended—the gift of essential food and items.

Our mission is to distribute enough cards in Canada to help alleviate the suffering of people experiencing homelessness, and help put an end to the cycle of poverty.
